Good: The Panasonic WV-NS202A is a PTZ camera with Power over Ethernet (PoE)! That should be enough to catch your attention but add on the 22x optical zoom, 1/4″ progressive scan, and an array of features. There are several PTZ control options including drag and zoom, arrows, scaled box, and point-click. A snazzy 360 map shot feature snaps images in 360 degrees provides a full panoramic stitched image. Built-in motion detection and auto-tracking feature. Low Day light lux spec and now WV-NS202A firmware updated for simple day/night mode. Perhaps best of all, the price can’t be beat.
Bad: No IR cut filter for true day/night. Need to make sure it integrates with video management software.
Bottom Line: Can you say three words? PoE, PTZ, and Price. As Pansonic’s i-PRO flagship, the WV-NS202A PTZ camera clearly stands out from the pack of all network cameras from any manufacturer. With the flexibilty of PoE, the 22x zoom and now day/night, this camera meets numerous applications at an unbelievable price point. The WV-NS202A is more than worthy of our first Editor’s Choice honors.
