Axis 216FD

Product Review

Good: The Axis 216FD offers a progressive scan imager, PoE and has options for vandal proof (-V) and/or 1.3MegaPixel (MFD). Finally, a flush mount accessory is now available for a cleaner drop ceiling appearance.

Bad: 1 Lux spec could be better. At 1.3MegaPixel, limited to 12 IPS. As usual for Axis, no BNC connection so a laptop or PDA is required for setup.

Bottom Line: The Axis 216FD is wildly popular and Axis’ best selling camera for good reason: It’s effectively designed for security applications and worth the extra investment for MegaPixel resolution.

MSRP: 216FD – $699.00, 216FD-V – $749.00, 216MFD – $799.00, 216MFD-V – $849.00

From the Manufactuer:

Thanks to its high-quality progressive scan sensor and advanced image processing, the AXIS 216FD delivers crisp and clear images – even in low-light conditions. The built-in two-way audio capabilities including audio detection alarm allow for real-time communication with visitors or intruders. This small and discreet camera is ideal for monitoring stores, schools, banks and other office buildings.
